The Three Axioms Nobody Wants to Debate
I want to begin with three axioms. Not arguments. Axioms. The ground I am standing on before the debate begins.
The First Axiom
God and consciousness are the two great unknowns. Not because we haven’t thought about them carefully enough — but because they are structurally resistant to the tools we normally use to know things. You cannot stand outside consciousness to examine it. The instrument of knowing is the thing being investigated. And God, if God exists, cannot be smaller than the totality — which means God cannot be captured by any framework built inside that totality.
This is not a retreat into mystery. It is intellectual honesty about the nature of the inquiry. Anyone who tells you God is easily disproved — or easily proved — has not understood the problem they are holding.
The Second Axiom
If God exists, God is the God of all souls that exist in time and space. Every one of them. Without exception.
This follows necessarily. A God who is partial — who belongs to one tribe, one book, one civilization — is not God. That is a local deity wearing borrowed clothing. A universal ground cannot have a preferred address. The moment you accept the premise of God at all, you have accepted universality. There is no halfway position.
The Third Axiom
If we are serious about this inquiry, we are obligated to go to the oldest and most sustained investigation into consciousness that human civilization has ever produced.
That investigation is the Vedic tradition. Not as religion. As science. The Vedas and the Upanishads represent four thousand years of unbroken, systematic inquiry into the nature of consciousness itself. No other body of knowledge on earth has held that question with that duration and that precision.
The Isha Upanishad states the ground in eight words: all of this is pervaded by the One. The Bhagavad Gita gives us the architecture — a universal Self seated in the heart of all beings without exception. The Brihadaranyaka gives us the epistemological honesty — Brahman cannot be captured by any predicate. Not this. Not this. The inquiry always exceeds the answer.
These are not faith claims. These are the conclusions of the longest running laboratory of inner science our species has ever produced.
If consciousness is the final frontier — and I would argue it is the only frontier that ultimately matters — then these texts are not ancient wisdom. They are the primary literature.
The Ground I Am Standing On
Three axioms. The two great unknowns. The God of all souls. And the oldest science of consciousness on earth.
I am not ashamed of the gospel of truth. I am grounded in it from X to Y to Z — in all humility. That is not a position being defended. It is a position being inhabited. Argument can be countered. Transmission cannot.
The debate can now begin.
