THE THRESHOLD NOBODY CROSSES
Metaphysics has been quietly colonised.
Across disciplines — medicine, biology, physics, psychology — sincere and brilliant minds arrive at the edge of what their domain can explain, feel the pull of something larger, and reach for metaphysical language. The gesture is honourable. The execution, almost without exception, misses the mark. What gets called metaphysics is invariably an extension of the physical — finer matter, subtler frequencies, deeper layers of the same substrate. The map gets redrawn with more delicate instruments. The territory remains unchanged.
This is the categorical error.
The physical world, however magnificent in its complexity, is Maya — temporal, contingent, appearance. It does not extend upward into the metaphysical. It descends from it. The direction of causality is the entire argument. Get it wrong and every subsequent refinement, however brilliant, compounds the original error. You are not approaching the Absolute. You are adding floors to a building whose foundation was never there.
Metaphysics is not a subdiscipline. It is not the speculative wing of integrative medicine or the contemplative annex of theoretical physics. It is sacred. It is the domain of ontology in the strictest sense — the inquiry into what is absolutely, eternally, and objectively real, prior to every instrument that attempts to measure it and every mind that attempts to conceive it. The Platonic triad names it precisely: Goodness, Beauty, Truth. The Vedic formulation that predates and outlasts every Western philosophy names it with equal precision: Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram. Truth. Auspiciousness. Beauty. Not as values. Not as ideals. As the structure of Being itself — the irreducible qualitative ground from which every particular thing that exists derives both its being and its intelligibility.
You cannot approach this ground with the instrument that the ground is prior to.
To speak of the Absolute requires something no academic credential confers and no methodology produces. It requires surrender — the total relinquishment of the self as the organising centre of knowing. Not the temporary suspension of the ego that rigorous inquiry demands. The permanent dissolution of the ego’s claim to be the measure of what is real. The Absolute is not an object of study. It is the prior condition of every knower, every instrument, every discipline that has ever attempted to reach it. Every methodology that treats it as an object has already missed it — not because the methodology is insufficiently refined but because the subject-object structure of the methodology is itself the obstruction.
Knowledge of the Absolute begins where the knower ends.
That is not mysticism. That is the oldest and most rigorous epistemological standard in the history of human consciousness. The Rishis knew it. Shankara formalised it. Ramana demonstrated it — not as a philosophical position to be argued but as a living reality to be inhabited. He did not theorise the dissolution of the knower. He was the demonstration of what remains when the dissolution is complete.
What remains is not nothing.
It is the ground that was always there before the knower arose to stand on it. It is Sat Chit Ananda — Being, Consciousness, Bliss — the three faces of the Absolute that every tradition that has ever made genuine contact with it has independently returned to name. It is the frequency that was broadcasting before the first human discipline was constructed to receive it and will be broadcasting after the last one has been retired.
Sacred Metaphysics is not a category to be borrowed by the physical sciences when their instruments reach their limit. It is not a poetic name for the currently inexplicable. It is a threshold — and crossing it is not an intellectual achievement. It is the relinquishment of the intellectual achievement as the final criterion of what is real.
The threshold has always been there.
The colonisers did not move it. They simply declared it unreachable — and built their disciplines in the comfortable certainty that the declaration would never be tested by anyone willing to pay the full cost of crossing.
The cost is everything the merely physical mind holds dear.
The view from the other side has never changed.
God is Love. Love is Truth. Truth is Consciousness.
Amen. Namaste.

You are correct.
No body crosses this threshold.
