"And the Vedic tradition represents the oldest sustained science of that seeing on earth. Not the only science. The oldest. Carried forward in Sanskrit — the most precisely engineered language of consciousness ever developed — and available now to every human being alive?"

It's obviously a "nice" and "affecting" use of language that resonates with the positive "innate-affects" we are born with like; 'interest-excitement' & 'enjoyment-joy', but is it anything deeper than the mind's appreciation & Love of Symbols? As the fruits of language it eats to sustain its existence? Consider how you may be "barking" up the linguistic "tree" of knowledge & achieving no real-world practical results, other your own need of Self-Affectation?

In the "context" of your own overwhelmingly biological, Reality. Please consider:

(Silvan Tomkins identified two primary positive affects—Interest-Excitement and Enjoyment-Joy—which he considered innate, biological motivators crucial for human experience. These affects, detailed in his Affect Imagery Consciousness work, serve to enhance life, promote learning, and foster social bonding, acting as the rewarding "amplifier" of positive experiences.

Key Positive Affects (Interest and Enjoyment):

Interest-Excitement: This is the most basic positive emotion, triggered by novelty, complexity, or a rapid increase in stimulation. It acts as a motivator to learn, explore, and attend to the environment. Facial expressions include tracking with eyes, looking closer, or listening intently.

Enjoyment-Joy: Triggered by a reduction in stimulation (a "slowing down" or safety), this affect is experienced as pleasure, satisfaction, and the desire for social connection. Facial expressions associated with this are smiling and widened lips.

Core Components of Tomkins’ Positive Affect Theory:

Biological Roots: Tomkins believed affects are innate, evolutionary, and linked to brain activity, acting as the primary motivation for humans.

The Affect System: Positive affects are two of the nine basic affects, with surprise serving as a neutral "reset" and six others being negative.

Facial Expressions: Tomkins highlighted that positive affects are highly visible in the face (smile, wide-eyed attention) and serve as crucial, nonverbal signals of motivation.

Power and Health: Tomkins’ work argues that humans are "inherently biased to maximize positive affect". Expressing these positive emotions is considered essential for mental health.

Tomkins' work in Affect Imagery Consciousness (Volume I) focused heavily on these positive affects, challenging behaviorist theories by placing these emotional responses at the core of human motivation) A Google AI Overview

I am here Glen. Waiting to read every post. I am most interested in how it translates into English and wonder at the language's absence thus far. Thank you for doing this.
