I was very disappointed in the Prime Minister's milquetoast original support of the attack. I understand with sadness, that we are already in a war with the administration of the United States and do not wish to make that worse, but I do think that there could have been a better initial response.
On the other hand, we have just appointed a former Supreme Court Justice and former Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia who brought charges against Slobodan Milošević, as the Governor-General of Canada, so if that is not a flip of the bird to Donald Trump who famously despises the International Criminal Court, I don't know what is.
The thing about what Trump says he's going to do, is that he's solely win-lose transactional and a complete blowhard. Spouting threats and sowing fear for him is merely a bargaining technique. Keeping your head down or playing sycophant seems to be the only way of getting anywhere with him, but Carney's strategy of calling him out on the international stage and Ford's (abandoned) strategy of using advertising to call out his protectionism as antithetical to traditional Republican principles are/were the better choice. It's the American people who have to be convinced enough to bring real pressure that will make a difference in upcoming midterm elections.
I don't envy Carney or anyone else for having to deal with him, but I'm happy we have someone at Carney's level doing it.
Without malice, I heard he literally stinks. I personally have spent too much headspace on the man and, like millions of writers, am looking forward to writing his obituary. My real distaste for the man is what he has taught the younger generation, that life is in 50 Cent's mantra, get rich or try dying no matter who you cap. It saddened me to write like this, Namaste, brother
Indeed a vast majority of the world are looking forward to his obituary along with many others like Putin’s.
But we must be mindful that whomever takes their places may be worse for humanity. It is always easier to deal with the devils you know, than to invite new ones. Even if the old ones rely on diapers.
